Thick N’ Cream
The seductiveness of simplicity.
I aim to make sculpture as if I was making an advertisement, believing that contemporary culture has led audiences to spend very limited amounts of time viewing individual pieces of art. Works therefore must attempt to sell themselves instantly. To achieve this, my work focuses on highly relatable situations, appetising materials and the pursuit of instant visual satisfaction. By concentrating on what audiences find immediately attractive or familiar, my work becomes a critique of how attraction is fostered through a culture of commercialism, whilst also being charged with strong suggestions of sexuality.
